Singer-songwriter John Denver touched millions of people and reached superstar status through his pop-folk songs based on folk, most of which were based in Colorado. Born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico, he was in affection with Colorado and eventually relocated to Aspen. Denver's state anthems inspired numerous people to go to Colorado. G. Brown of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame declares that John Denver is unlike any other musician who represents Colorado. Denver, the Hall of Fame's inaugural inductee was recognized with the award in the year 2011. He is the face of Colorado to many around the world. On my journeys around the world, I have met many individuals who do not hail from Colorado. They will say, "Oh John Denver!" When they hear you're from Colorado. Brown explained. Denver's first Top 10 hit as a solo artist following a brief time in folk-based groups included Take Me Home Country Roads co-written with Bill Danoff. Danoff wrote the tune with the inspiration of Johnny Cash, but Denver discovered an early version of the song and realized the song would be a top 10 hit. The song was performed on stage in Washington D.C. to a large audience, Denver made a recording a few days later.
