Winona Ryder - Winona Lauro Horowitz - was born in Winona Minnesota. Parents named her Winona after her hometown. Both her father Michel Horowitz, and mother Cynthia Palmer are authors and editors. Ryder is a Jewish. Ryder believes that her father came from an ethnically Jewish background. Ryder also has a half-sister, Sunyata Jubal. Ryder's younger sister is Uria.
